Even in these days of always-on internet connections and live Skype chats, there are some places that somehow still manage to retain a sense of mystery and innocence. One of those is Bali, an island located in the Pacific Ocean just south of the equator.

There are no direct flights between the United States and Bali. Getting there requires at least one plane change and an entire days worth of flying. It’s is just about as far off the grid as you get and still enjoy all the pleasantries of modern life. The people are friendly and the Bali accommodation options are vast and in all prices ranges.
So once you get there, what do you other than sit on the beach and work on your tan? Here are five suggestions for ways to maximize your enjoyment in one of the world’s most magical locations.

- Kecak Dancing At The Ulu Watu Temple
Located on the cliffs near the southeast point of Bali, this ancient temple offers up one of the truly memorable experiences. At 6:00 nearly 100 brightly clothed dancers arrive, chanting and stomping as they recreate a performance reportedly first shown to natives by a German teacher in the 1930s.

- Rafting Through The Heart Of Bali
One popular tourist experience is participating in a wild water raft heart down the middle part of the island. Any Bali accommodation or tour guide can point you in the direction of the service, which will consume most of your day.

- Climb Mt. Batur
This mountain towers over Bali and while it is substantial, it can easily be climbed due to the many walking paths. Because of the heat, most tours up the mountain begin at three or four in the morning. That timing also gets hikers at the top of the mountain in time to see the rising sun.

- Snorkeling Near Menjangan Island
Located on the far western side of Bali, this little-developed area offers some of the best snorkeling in the world. Pristine waters and easy access make for the perfect day trip.

- Sunset At The Tanah Temple Lot
A perfect thing to do on the last night on Bali, watch the sunset from this beautiful and historical temple.

The price of fuel may be at a record high, but the success of low-cost airlines means it’s quite easy to track down great weekend and city break offers at any time of the year.

The likes of Ryanair and Easyjet sometimes come in for criticism for their policies, like charging for every bag and for in-flight meals. But it’s hard to argue with the prices that you can get if you do your research online.

On any given day, you are likely to see offers of under £10 for flights from the likes of Bristol or Stansted to a variety of European destinations.

That means you can arrange weekend breaks in Denmark, Spain, Germany and France very cheaply. For example, within those countries, Ryanair flies to Aarhus, Seville, Bremen and Limoges respectively.

Some of the destinations the budget airlines offer are well worth a visit.

Bremen, for example, might not be in everybody’s top five list of German towns they’ve always wanted to visit but it is a delightful place to spend a weekend.

While some of Germany’s leading cities had many of their historic buildings destroyed during World War II, Bremen escaped relatively unscathed.

That means visitors can explore the Altstadt (old town) near the Weser River famous for its Schnoor quarter.

The Schnoor was the base for the Hanseatic city of Bremen, and parts of the wall and a tower date back to around 1200. Some of the houses were built in the 15th century, and a number of them have recently been turned into delightful crafts and souvenir shops.

Elsewhere in Bremen, the impressive 13th century Cathedral St Petri boasts sculptures of Moses and David, Peter and Paul and Charlemagne. The oldest church is the Liebfrauenkirche (our lady’s church) which was built in the 11th century.

Finding a hotel discount you have to mak follow steps
Search the internet, look for great deals. There are various types of hotels that offer great discounts on the web for online customers. Be sure to check these out.

Plan your trip during the off season months. These are the times when big discounts are given.

Call the hotel of your choice. Ask them about offers and discounts that they can give. List all promotions.

Certain hotels can give discounts to credit card holders of certain card establishments. Ask for the manager and ask him about it. The manager is the best person to ask, since if you can make negotiations, he has the authority to make negotiations with you.

Ask if they give discounts to students or senior citizens.

Simply ask through the phone how can you qualify for a discount. If at certain day of the week or at certain times of the year they give discounts, ask them about it and ask how much or how less can they give, then ask if you could get still a higher discount. Usually at off peak seasons, hotels will be willing to give in, just to fill the empty rooms.

Ask for certain packages. Hotels usually offer rooms with free breakfast.

Do name drop. If you know of someone who frequently stays them, mention his name. It can help. Tell them your friend referred you to them and ask for a discount. Don’t ever give up if they say no. A statement like “is that the best you can do?” can encourage a big discount.

Often, people in the military get good hotel rates. Usually, discounts are offered to government employees.

At off peak seasons, you could definitely ask for special rates. Then if they don’t budge after you have offered a discount, ask some extras, like breakfast.

When negotiating, it is very important to write down all agreed discussions. Write too, the names of the persons that you have been talking to, the time as well as the day and date. Ask for a number that you can call before checking in to the hotel for confirmation.

Upon arrival to the hotel, look around and ask for negotiations once more. For instance if you feel that the hotel is not fully booked, ask for a room with a better view than the one you are in, if you don’t agree with what you see.
