The Great Barrier Reef
One of the Seven Great Wonders of the World, the 2000 kilometre long Barrier Reef should not be missed. Even if you are not certified for scuba diving, you can still get up close and personal. Take a day cruise and go snorkelling along the colourful coral.
The Daintree Rainforest
Where the reef meets the rainforest is the best way to describe the area. The far north tip of Queensland offers visitors an abundance of attractions and activities. Take a Wildlife River Cruise, and walk along the Marrdja Boardwalk.
Cape Tribulation
Another stunning area of the 100 million year old rainforest in far north Queensland offers visitors an abundance of activities. You can go horse riding, four-wheel driving, or hiking. The more adventurous types will love traversing through the thick forest on a mountain bike.
The Gold Coast
Full of some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, including Surfers Paradise, the Gold Coast has something for everyone. You can go parasailing, kayaking off south Stradbroke Island, or kick back on the beach and relax. Surfers love the area for the beach breaks.
The Hinterland
Just east of Surfers Paradise lies one of the most beautiful area’s in Australia. The aborigines called the Hinterland sacred ground, and to this day, it is still treated as such. Go ziplining in Thunderbird Park, or visit the Natural Bridge in Springbrook. If you like to shop, head to Eagle Heights and look for handcrafted souvenirs.
Oxenford
Located in South Queensland, Oxenford is home to Warner Bros. Movie World. This theme park is an actual working studio where you can learn how movie magic is made. Have breakfast with the stars and get your thrills on some amazing rides and attractions. While you are in Oxenford, head over to Wet N Wild to cool off.
Brisbane
The capital of Queensland is home to the Koala Sanctuary where you can actually cuddle and feed these delightful little bears in the heart of the city. Drive up to Mt-Cootha for the best view of the city, and don’t forget to spend the day shopping at South Bank.
The Outback
Rugged and vast, the central and western areas of Queensland are meant to be explored. You can go mountain climbing, hiking, or white water rafting. Go camping and have authentic billy tea and damper.
Go for a bushwalk, and try your luck at the fishing hole.
Caines
This far north eastern Queensland town has something for everyone. Make sure that you visit the Barron Gorge National Park where you can go white water rafting, and don’t forget to take the Kuranda Scenic Railway. Take the full day tour and explore the area in an amphibious army duck, a train and a gondola.
Frasier Island
If you want to make the best of your trip to the Heritage listed island, stay the night. There are some excellent Queensland holiday packages where you can explore the island on foot, rent a bike, or take a canoe and paddle around Lake Birrabeen which is touted as the most stunning waterway on the island.
